How much does tree removal cost in Canberra?
It depends on the tree's size, species, condition and how close it stands to houses, power lines and other structures. A small tree in open lawn costs far less than a large gum that has to be dismantled in sections over a roof. We provide free, fixed, site specific quotes across Canberra and the surrounding districts, so you know the exact price before any work starts.
Do I need council approval to remove a tree in the ACT?
Often, yes. Many trees in the ACT are protected under the Urban Forest Act 2023, and removing or significantly pruning a protected, regulated or registered tree usually requires approval from the ACT Government (Urban Treescapes). Rules differ again for NSW properties around Queanbeyan, Yass and Bungendore. We can assess your tree, tell you whether approval is required and prepare the supporting arborist report for your application.

Can you provide an arborist report for a DA application in Canberra?
Yes. Our Tree Management Plans (TMPs) are prepared specifically by an AQF 5 arborist. The project arborist is engaged to see your development works from start to finish.
Do you do arborist reports?
Yes. Our AQF Level 5 arborist prepares professional arborist reports, including tree health and condition assessments, VALID Tree Risk Assessments, root assessments and more. Reports are tailored to meet the requirements of councils, planners, insurers and certifiers across Canberra, the ACT and surrounding NSW council areas.
What makes a tree protected in Canberra?
Under the Urban Forest Act 2023, a tree on leased land is regulated if any of the following apply:
- it is at least 8m high; or
- it has a canopy at least 8m wide; or
- it has one trunk that, 1.4m above natural ground level, has a circumference greater than 1m; or
- it was planted in the last five years under a canopy contribution agreement, or as a condition of a development approval.
A dead native tree on leased land is also regulated if, 1.4m above natural ground level, it has a trunk with a circumference of at least 1.88m.
However, a tree is not regulated if it is declared a pest species under the Biosecurity (Pests) Declaration 2025, even if it meets the regulated tree size requirements.

Yes. When storms bring down limbs or leave a tree hanging over your home, we provide rapid emergency tree removal across Canberra, the ACT and the surrounding NSW districts. We'll make the site safe, remove the hazard, help with documentation for your insurer and organise any emergency tree approvals required.
